Happy Birthday to the Bra and my Bro

Do you ever look at what happened today in history, well back in 1914, Mary Jacob invented the bra in New York. Bra’s make me think of support. They also make me think of something my brother loves, no not the bra’s but what’s under them, he likes busty women. So this is just a birthday note about my brother Lance. Today he turns 27. This entry is just about him. I don’t know how often he gets to hear this from me, but not enough I’m sure. Lance is a wonderful guy, and father. He’s an amazing guy who has always been appreciated so enormously! He’s got a great since of humor, and you can’t help but smile when your around him. So oh brother of mine, I thought it might be time to tell you, exactly what you mean and have meant to me. First you were a gift to me, I remember praying on many occasions for a little brother. Twenty seven years ago you was our surprise, Mama left while we were trick or treating. I’m sorry we don’t talk as often as maybe I’d like to, but I’ve always felt a closness with you that doesn’t need to be measured in miles. If it could be measured for me I guess it would be by all the memories I have of you growing up. You was always a big part of my life and my thoughts and I always wanted the best for you, I’m not sure what I did to deserve such a wonderful brother, but whatever it was, I hope you know that I treasure you so much and I’m so grateful we are family. You have always been the brother Sherry, Dena, and I loved so much, you were and still are very special to us. You have such a positive attitude, and that just rubs off on you. I hope this birthday marks the beginning of a year filled with happiness, success, and all the things you’re striving to achieve. You deserve the best and I wish you a Happy Birtday Lance. Well as much as I was hoping I was going to have a new brother or sister born on Halloween, it didn’t happen. But I did get my wish on a new brother. When Lance was born, I looked so forward to sharing all of life’s little adventures. As I’ve said in some old entries, I prayed for a little brother from the time I found out my mom was having a baby. He came into this world and was so loved by us all. I think we all loved having his attention. I wanted him by my side, I wanted to show him things. I still remember his first smiles. He always had a light in his eyes burning. Always with love. I can’t remember anything other than that, it shines naturally in him. Autumn, Eli, and Ethan are the same way. There are many treasured memories I hold dear and so much laughter. Hope this is a wonderful birthday for you Bro. Seems the world we live in is so busy. Seems time is just going by quicker and quicker, even though you still seem really young to me. Man twenty six. Your the best bro anyone could have. Just know I’m grateful and appreciate you and most of all want you to know how much I love you! We all do. Happy Birthday! Man we had a lot of hair in that first picture! Here’s a little birthday poem for you.
Lance and Derek, brothers by blood
Thoughts of yesterday continue to flood
Two children fast at play, I grew older and went away

That was the past, and the memories last
Because in our dreams and in life, time goes so fast
Or can time stand still, where we can look at thoughts of past, present, future at will

Tomorrow will come and we will be still
With unmeasurable amounts of love to be shared
Although we don’t always say it we both know, (that we have no hair) I was trying to rhyme with shared
For now we have our dreams and thoughts, our should and our oughts

Our father and mother, our sisters we love.
I only know of being Uncle, you know Father and Uncle.
But… we are brothers
We are brothers by blood
And my love does flood.

Happy Birthday my brother!
I tried posting pictures but for some reason Blogger is acting up, so I’ll try tomorrow. I was able to post two of us on my other blog.

  1. What a beautifully heartful, genuine tribute to your brother.

  2. Derek….

what else but this kind of tribute should a brother of yours expect?! A neat way to say happy birthday and I love you at the same time. You already know my thoughts on family…can’t ever get enough of them.

  3. What a great tribute. Your brother will really appreciate what you have said im sure. It makes me want to pay tribute to my own family.

By the way, i have now learnt something about the bra!

    Have a great day.
